“As a City Councilmember, I will fight for evidence-based policies, rooted in progressive values and serving all the people of District 4.”

Affordable Childcare

We have a plan that will reduce costs, help more people start and run their own childcare centers — paying family wage jobs and helping close our unacceptable wage gap, and partner with businesses to help make childcare more affordable for all of us.

Addressing Homelessness

We believe in solutions that provide housing first, protect the dignity and property rights of all people, and, when possible, prevent people from entering homelessness to begin with.

Affordable Housing

As a renter who makes less than 50% of the median income in Seattle, I understand the challenges of finding affordable housing. Seattle needs more housing for low- and middle-income people and better protections for renters.

Climate Justice

My plan to meet our city’s climate goals begins with supporting communities most impacted by climate change. I plan to ensure a just transition for workers through Green energy apprenticeship programs, free and expanded transit funded through congestion pricing, and new construction of green social housing.

Criminal Justice Reform

We need to redirect our focus away from criminalizing poverty and address systemic injustices faced by low-income people and people of color.

Corporate Accountability

We need revenue to fund expansions in housing, transportation, and social service. It is time for Seattle to tax big business, stand by workers, and provide more public goods.

I am proud to endorse Emily Myers for the position of District 4 City Councilmember. I have worked closely with Emily on union organizing campaigns, and know her to be a thoughtful and compassionate leader. Emily is a scientist and a champion of workers’ rights with experience fighting for climate justice, victims of harassment, and evidence-based policy. She also understands the clear need to protect the rights of immigrants and provide a clear racial equity lens in all her work. She will bring a data-driven, human-rights focused leadership to the Council.

“As a working scientist at UW researching Parkinson’s disease and a rank-and-file member of her union, Emily will bring evidence-based progressive policy to the Seattle City Council. With science actively under attack from the far-right, it’s never been more important to elevate powerful voices like Emily’s. We’re proud to stand with her because she’s the best candidate for the working-class in District 4.”
